10 Year Old Whisky

A richly coloured Edradour, finished in a red wine cask as part of its 10 years of maturation. Distilled on 28th May 2002, matured in a hogshead until 28th February 2011 and then finished in a Barolo hoggie until bottling on 10th January 2013.

The first couple of batches of Bowmore's Tempest, a cask-strength 10yo vatted from first-fill bourbon casks, have been incredibly popular, and rightly so. This one has a more elegant touch and tantalising tropical fruitiness, especially with a drop of water and a few minutes in the glass. Our favourite batch so far, this is fabulous stuff.

The fourth release in Bowmore's Tempest series, taking a small batch of first fill bourbon casks and marrying them before bottling at cask strength. A classic example of relatively young and fully flavoured Bowmore.

The first of only three distilleries allowed to use the 'Royal' epithet (brownie points if you can name the other two), this is a little-seen malt now owned by Dewar's.

A litre bottle special edition whisky from Black Bottle, aged for 10 years and blended with a big proportion of peaty whisky for a smoky tang.

The 3rd batch of Laphroaig's riotously popular small batch editions of their famed 10yo cask strength Islay single malt. No doubt this will be as big a hit as the previous editions - this is an expression that never disappoints.

A 2001 vintage whisky from Bunnahabhain, distilled on October 17th, matured in a sherry butt for 10 years and bottled on September 10th 2012 by Signatory as part of their Cask Strength Collection.

The higher strength bottling of Longrow's regular 10 year old, giving you a more concentrated flavour and a touch more fire.

A ten year old, elegantly peaty single malt from Nikka's beautiful Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, where whisky is made as it used to be in Scotland with small direct-fired stills and matured in the finest wood the company can find. Bottled at 45% for extra oomph. On the face of it, this is expensive for a ten year old whisky, but it's well worth the money in quality terms.

A soft, clean, sweetly fruity and extremely approachable Japanese malt from the Miyagikyo distillery in Sendai, Northern Japan.

A 1996 vintage bottling of Longrow's 10 year old whisky, the peatier dram distilled at Springbank. A balanced sweet and smokey dram with a hint of brine.

A cask strength Longrow from Springbank that spent its last two years in a Tokaji cask, adding some mouthwatering sweet notes and extra complexity.

This is the discontinued 1990s 10 year old Benriach that was the only bottling Seagram could be bothered to put out when they owned this fantastic distillery.

The debut release from The New Zealand Malt Whisky Company, the DoubleWood 10 year old was distilled at closed Willowbank in Dunedin on the South Island before being matured for 6 years in American oak and finished for 4 in French oak barrels formerly used to hold red wine.

Plucky Lowlander, a bit more weighty than most. The Bladnoch distillery is now under new ownership - this Flora & Fauna effort was the last Diageo bottling.
