A special bottling of Laphroaig 12yo, this Cairdeas was the first bottling overseen by incoming distillery manager John Campbell and was released at the 2009 Feis Ile festival celebrating Islay whisky & music. Cairdeas is pronounced 'cur-chess' (more or less) and means friendship in Gaelic.
The 3rd cask of Benromach bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This was an interesting time for the distillery. Distilled under the ownership of United Distillers (later to become Diageo), a year before the distillery was mothballed, and bottled a year after new owners Gordon & Macphail had bought it, but three years before it reopened.
An old bottling of Glendullan's 12 year old. This seems to be the age the owners believe is best for the distillery's spirit, as they have hardly released any official bottlings at any other age. We estimate this dates from the 1980s.
An old bottling of 12 years old Glenturret released for the Italian market. We estimate this was bottled in the 1980s, a decade that saw then owners Remy Cointreau take over the distillery with a great deal of investment.
An old distillery bottling of Glenturret 12 year old. Most of the distillery's production is used as a base for the Famous Grouse blended whisky. The 12 year old was the distillery's standard release at the time of production, which we estimate was the 1980s, although it was replaced with a 10 year old in 2003.
An official bottling of 12 year old Highland Park in the distillery's classic 1980s dumpy bottle. In 1979, the owners invested in marketing the single malt, which led to a massive increase in sales at the time this bottle would have been released.
A very popular island malt from Orkney, Highland Park is smooth, smoky and heathery, with a lovely honeyed touch coming through on the finish.
