A 22 year old Signatory bottled whisky from Ben Nevis distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. This has been bottled without chill-filtration after maturing in a sherry butt - distilled on August 8 1991 and bottled on April 10 2014.
This is pretty exciting stuff - a single grain whisky from the extinct and rarely-seen Cambus distillery, bottled at full strength from a refill butt by independent bottlers Signatory. This was distilled in 1991, just a couple of years before the distillery was closed.
An intriguing Single Malts of Scotland bottling of whisky from Glen Grant. While the distillery isn't known for smokiness, there's a distinct whiff of wood smoke sitting in the background of this fruity 22 year old.
A 1990 vintage bottling of rarely seen Strathmill from independent bottlers Signatory as part of their Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on 9th March, it was matured in hogsheads 100181 and 100182 for 22 years before being bottled on 12th June 2012 at 55.5%.
A well aged 22 year old edition of whisky from Knockdhu (aka anCnoc), bottled at 46% with no colouring or chill filtration. It's a mix of American ex-bourbon casks and some Spanish ex-oloroso butts, adding a bit of leathery smokiness to anCnoc's traditionally silky style.
A 1990 vintage Aberlour from independent bottlers Speciality Drinks Ltd as part of their Single Malts of Scotland range. Aged for 22 years in cask number 131571, just 250 bottles of this rich and spicy whisky were released.
A very potent plain hogshead cask of Diageo's blending workhorse, Auchroisk (once of Singleton fame), from the 1990 vintage, bottled by Signatory at the end of 2012 for their Cask Strength Collection. Nice to see this very overlooked single malt in its natural state.
One of a series of 6 special bottlings to mark the 15th anniversary of the Old Malt Cask brand. Presented in a wooden box with the original style label, this 22 year old Glen Scotia was distilled in May 1991 and bottled in November 2013 from ex-bourbon cask 13609. The distillery's official range only goes up to 21 years of age, so this is a rare opportunity to try something older.
A 1991 vintage Bladnoch from independent bottler Mackillop's. Distilled on August 13, this was aged for 22 years before being bottled in March 2014. Two years after this was distilled, the distillery closed and was silent for seven years.
A 1975 vintage Balblair independently bottled by Direct Wines (owners of Laithwaites) as part of their First Cask series. This was distilled just a few years after production at Balblair was increased by the addition of a third still.
