A short-lived edition of Maker's Mark. Released with the ABV reduced from the usual 45% in an attempt to avoid stock shortage issues, it invoked an outcry and Beam Inc reversed their decision within a week. A few of these rare bottles got into stores and we've managed to acquire a few.
The first new Makers Mark recipe for at least 50 years, Maker's 46 is named for the number of different wood 'recipes' they tried before getting it right. Bottled at 47% it is matured in part in barrels containing a 'ladder' of toasted new French oak barrel staves to give more spice, sweetness and vanilla. Limited to 1 bottle per customer.
A ready made cocktail, sort of, from Maker's Mark, infusing mint flavours into their regular whiskey along with adding a touch of sugar to produce a spirit that only needs mixing with a silver cup of crushed ice to produce a refreshing julep.

The third bottling in Maker's Mark's Triple Crown series, Affirmed won the US race in 1978. Painted silver, profits from the original sales of the bottle were donated to the Maker's Mark Secretariat Center at the Kentucky Horse Park.
The 2006 bottling in the Keeneland series, Rupp's Runts celebrated the 40th anniversary of the 1965/66 Kentucky basketball team. Profits from the original sales of the bottle were donated to the Markey Cancer Center Foundation.
