Ron Cortez is the product of Varela Hermanos distillery, which can be traced back to 1908 when Don José Varela Blanco launched the first sugar mill in Panama. In 1936, Don José’s sons convinced him to begin distilling rum from sugar cane grown on the distillery’s own estate.
