Following the withdrawal in 2009 of the original Sailor Jerry recipe by makers William Grant and the subsequent rejection of the new recipe by tens of thousands of previously happy drinkers, an almighty scuffle has ensued amongst other rum producers desperate to fill the gap in the market. El Dorado is the latest brand to jostle in on a rapidly-expanding category with their own spiced rum from a distillery with genuine pedigree.
A recent addition to the El Dorado range of splendid golden Demerara rums from Guyana, this brilliantly versatile rum works well in a luxury Mojito or Rum Old-Fashioned, but is also delicious on the rocks or sipped slowly. A terrific all-rounder.
Awarded the gold medal at the Caribbean Rum Taste Test (held annually in London) no fewer than seven times in the first ten years in which the competition was held!
El Dorado 15yo is a remarkable rum, whose greatest achievement was collecting the Wray & Nephew Trophy for Best Rum in the World at the International Wine & Spirits Challenge for an unprecedented four years running (1999-2001).
This glorious, full-bodied rum of exquisite taste and character was launched in late 2002 and has quickly established itself as one of the finest on the market.
