An innovative age-statement cuvée from Courvoisier - unusual for the big houses to be so explicit about maturation time for their creations, but the 12yo label on this Borderies-based blend should have a broad appeal & perhaps even makes it more accessible to drinkers of other brown spirits (eg whisky).

A Courvoisier named to celebrate Napoleon's great love for Courvoisier. This is slightly problematic, given that Napoleon I died fourteen years before Courvoisier was founded, but he did apparently tour wine & spirit merchant Emmanuel Courvoisier's cellars once, and Napoleon III did make Courvoisier an official supplier to the Imperial Court in 1869. That's good enough for the marketing department.

This 21yo Courvoisier was launched in summer 2011 as part of the innovative Connoisseur Collection of age statement cognacs designed to pull in new customers to the category. The eaux-de-vie for this assemblage is entirely from the Grande Champagne region of Cognac.

We are lucky to have this luxury cuvee from Courvoisier: Initiale carried off a Gold medal, Best in Class and the IWSC Trophy for Cognac at the IWSC awards in 2006. None of the cognacs used in the assemblage are less than fifty years old.

A super-luxury Courvoisier, L'Essence is blended from over 100 ancient eaux-de-vies from Grande Champagne and Borderies and is presented in a Baccarat teardrop decanter suspended in a frame complete with a finely crafted crystal stopper, inspired by the signet rings given by Napoleon Bonaparte to commanders in his army in recognition of noble acts.
