Capel
In the middle of the 16th century, the Spanish Conquistadors planted the first vines, to substitute the imported alcoholic drinks from the mainland. In Chile, the first evidence of vine cultivation can be traced back to 1544 to the city of La Serena, in the region of the Elqui Valley, a valley, where to this day, the most exceptional Chilean pisco is made. Capel, formed in 1938 by nine small distilleries, today has grown into the largest producer of pisco in Chile with an annual production of nearly four million cases per year, a figure that represents almost two-thirds of the Chilean market.
