Glen Albyn was founded in Inverness on the site of a ruined brewery / malt kiln in 1846 by James Sutherland, a local landowner and Mayor of the town. A 1977 vintage whisky bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society from closed Inverness distillery Glen Albyn, demolished and replaced by a branch of B&Q, that has since closed. This was distilled in September 1977 and bottled almost exactly 21 years later in September 1998.
