One of the most popular distilleries in the world, over the last four decades Macallan has built probably the best reputation for quality malt whisky and is the most sought-after whisky for collectors. Rare expressions can change hands for thousands of pounds and prices for such bottles are continuously going up. Macallan built its enviable rep ... Read More »
A gift set containing a bottle of Macallan Gold and a pair of branded cufflinks. Gold was released in late 2012 as part of a series of colour-themed bottlings introduced to replace the distillery's age-statement expressions. Produced from 9-15yo first fill and refill sherry casks, it was designed to sit between the now-defunct 10yo Sherry Oak and 10yo Fine Oak bottlings.
Macallan 10yo Fine Oak is matured in a combination of Bourbon & Sherry Oak Casks. The Fine Oak range has been around for a few years now and seems to have weathered the storm it caused amongst the faithful when it was initially released.
Matured exclusively in oak sherry casks from Spain, Macallan 10yo is a deep, rich, deliciously smooth and well-rounded flavour with a slight sweetness and touch of sherry and wood. Its deep colour is achieved wholly naturally without the addition of any colouring.
A lighter style of Macallan, like the rest of the Fine Oak range Masters' Edition has been matured using American oak casks as well as the more familiar sherry casks. Smooth and delicate, with mediumweight oak and fruit flavours.
An, unsurprisingly, amber coloured dram from Macallan, part of the colour named 1824 Series. It's matured in sherry casks and chosen to be more fully flavoured than the Gold but a bit more restrained than the Sienna. A great example of what Macallan can do with good quality oak.
A short-lived special edition no-age-statement Macallan, discontinued in 2012 as part of the distillery's rationalisation of their range. The Director's Edition has a handsome deep gold colour that strongly suggests a goodly proportion of well-aged sherry casks in the mix.
A 991 vintage Macallan released by independent bottlers Murray McDavid at 16 years of age. Bottled at Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, with whom they shared close links, as Jim McEwan the distillery managed there selected the casks for this bottling.
Deliciously smooth, with rich dried fruits and sherry, balanced with wood smoke and spice. Described by Paul Pacult, the renowned international whisky writer, in his book Kindred Spirits as: "simply the best 12 Year Old single malt around".
This is restricted to TWO BOTTLES PER CUSTOMER
A 1990 vintage Macallan bottled by Speciality Drinks for their The Whisky Trail range in 2011. Rich fruit and oak flavours and a fantastically accessible, smooth, easy-drinking style make this great value for money compared to the official bottlings.
Macallan 15yo Fine Oak is matured in a combination of Bourbon & Sherry Oak Casks. This range has been around for a few years now and seems to have weathered the storm it caused amongst the faithful when it was initially released. This one is probably the pick of the (Fine Oak) bunch.
A special edition of Macallan 10yo, selected by disgraced former Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin for sale at the tourist shop in the Houses of Parliament. An interesting historical piece, as Martin was forced to resign shortly after this version had appeared, meaning it was only available for a very short time.
The top of Macallan's 1824 Series, aged in sherry casks and tinged a deep ruby red by the experience. The richest and deepest coloured in the range, its appearance is entirely natural, having drawn the colour, and commensurate amounts of flavour, from the casks.
