Port Ellen Single Malt Whisky

An old Connoisseurs Choice Port Ellen 1980, bottled by Gordon & Macphail in the mid 1990s. These are becoming increasingly rare.

A mid-1990s independent bottling of whisky from this much sought after closed distillery. It was distilled a few years before closure and matured for 16 years before release as part of Direct Wines's First Cask range.

Just 60 bottles of this delicious sherried Port Ellen were released for The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show, and only a tiny handful have survived - MAXIMUM 1 BOTTLE PER CUSTOMER.

A sherried Port Ellen from the early days of the Old Malt Cask series, this is one of a string of single cask PE's that really put Douglas Laing on the map as an independent bottler. The company had vast stocks of Port Ellen after buying it in bulk for their blends, and were able to capitalise on the success of the Rare Malts bottlings which had made the distillery hugely sought-after.

Bottled at 50% for a whisky retailer at some stage around the turn of the millennium, this rare Port Ellen was selected by Burn Stewart distillers and has no declared vintage but was bottled at 16 years of age.

In celebration of the 2011 Royal Wedding TWE has selected a single sherry cask of Port Ellen and bottled it on 29th April - the wedding day itself. The spirit was distilled in 1982, the birth year of both bride and groom, and the year before the distillery closed. It's a big, dark cask-strength dram with rich, dry sherrywood flavours.

An independent bottling of Port Ellen whisky, specially selected for Royal Mile Whiskies. This was bottled at 45% after 17 years old maturation.
