A very modern distillery, Tamnavulin was established in Speyside in 1966 during one of the industry’s periodic booms and was one of the most recent distilleries to be built before the current crop of newcomers (Arran, Kilchoman etc).

An old discontinued bottling of Tamnavulin 10yo, we reckon this is probably from the late 1980s or early 1990s - at any rate, it was before the distillery dropped the 'Glenlivet' suffic.
This ancient Tamnavulin is a star of our much-lauded Anniversary Selection. Rich and sweet, yet graceful, this gets away with its age thanks to an abundance of honey and cocoa notes on nose and palate.
This cask was matured full-term in a Sandeman cream sherry butt and remains the finest expression from this distillery we have tried. Hugely impressive stuff, with complex fruitcake, leather and cognac-esque rancio characters, with a delicious sherried sweetness.
