All the island malts might be described a ‘maritime’ in character, except Isle of Arran, which is as sweet and fruity as a Speyside. A 2012 re-release of Highland Park 21 back at its old strength of 47.5% after a few years of languishing at a lower strength due to stock shortages. This has been much sought after in the travel retail sector and it's good to see it back on our shelves again. Absolutely terrific stuff.
A 1988 vintage Highland Park bottled after 25 years of maturation in a single hogshead at full proof by Signatory in 2013 for their Cask Strength Collection. It was distilled on June 16th and bottled on November 22nd.

A little piece of whisky history here - the first legal single malt whisky made at the Abhainn Dearg (Red River) distillery in Uig on the Outer Hebridean Isle of Lewis. Established in 2008, Abhainn Dearg is the most westerly distillery in Scotland.

A 1984 vintage Highland Park from Douglas Laing, bottled as part of their fancily presented and carefully selected Director's Cut series. Distilled in December, this was matured in a hogshead for 28 years until bottled in September 2013.
