El Dorado 15yo is a remarkable rum, whose greatest achievement was collecting the Wray & Nephew Trophy for Best Rum in the World at the International Wine & Spirits Challenge for an unprecedented four years running.
The Ron Cubay brand was established in 1964 and the rums are made by Cuba Ron S.A., producers of world famous Havana Club. Originally intended for the domestic market, it has only recently (around 2010) begun to be exported. This is the top of their core range, a 10 year old Anejo Superior, which is one to take your time over and not be rushed.

Uniquely, as far as we can tell, Los Valientes is a blend of 70% pot-distilled rum from sugar cane juice (ie rhum agricole) and 30% colum-distilled molasses rum, which is then rested in used white oak barrels, prolonging the ageing process by using less active wood.

Botran's rums are aged in a solera system high up in the mountains, and the solera is fed with a proportion of rums aged in sherry and port casks as well as ex-bourbon. The rums used for Solera 1893 are made with virgin sugar cane honey and are matured for between 5 and 18 years before going into the solera.
Rhum Rhum PMG is a rum agricole from the island of Marie Galante, south of Guadeloupe. A collaboration between an Italian importer, an Italian distiller and the Bielle distillery. They use the best sugar cane known, the almost now disappeared B47.259 (if that's your thing) and five days of fermentation. A real wow rum!
