A 1998 vintage rum from Westerhall in Grenada, bottled by Mezan. Westerhall has been a sugar and rum producer since the 1700s but didn't get round to bottling a rum for sale until 1978. This is lighter and less smoky than other Caribbean rums with light toffee and a hint of mocha.

A 2003 vintage Grenadan rum bottled by Plantation, home of 2012 Golden Barrel Awards Rum Blender of the Year, Alexandre Gabriel. A delicate and fruity aged rum with lots of complexity.

A Trinidad rum distilled at the Caroni distillery and released by Mezan. The distillery closed in 1993, leaving only one distillery on the island, and this would have been produced in their column still.

Distilled at Angostura in Trinidad and blended by brand owners Cognac Ferrand, Plantation Trinidad is spicy and chocolatey with a pleasingly dry finish.

2012 Miami Rum XP - Gold Medal Winner

A delicious golden rum from the Dominican Republic, Atlantico is a cut above your standard smooth sipper, with the producers claiming the average age of the rums involved to be between fifteen and twenty-five years old. Aged rums are selected and blended before maturing again in standard casks and finally being transferred into a solera. The excellent result is well worth the painstaking effort, this is great stuff.

A Colombian rum sourced and selected by the Riascos. blended from spirit matured for between 12 and 21 years in white oak. We are also reliably informed that it's pronounced 'etch-ee-seh-rah' and the name means 'Enchantress' in Spanish.

This special edition from Dominican producer Brugal has been double-distilled and matured in American oak before a second maturation period in sherry casks to add a dose of dried fruit and leathery sweetness to the flavours.

A magnificent Venezuelan rum aged in a solera system, Santa Teresa 1796 has established itself in top bars as one of the best South American rums in the world. A deserving winner of a Gold Medal and 'Best In Category' at the International Cane Spirits Festival 2007.

An interestingly matured rum from Murray McDavid's Renegade series, bottled as usual at the Bruichladdich distillery. A 2001 vintage Diamond rum from Guyana, selected by Jim McEwan, matured first in bourbon casks and then 'enhanced' in Ribero del Duero Tempranillo casks before bottling in 2012.
