Pineau Francois 1er was launched in 1934 and this is their Grande Réserve. Made using a traditional method, the wine is distilled in a coal-fired still and aged in wood for 1 year. 1 part of the spirit is blended with 3 parts grape mush and aged in Limouisn oak for 3 years, before being bottled without filtration. A classic Pineau.

A delicious old long-aged tawny port from a very classy producer. Tawny port is so called due to the colour it takes on from its time in wood, in this case 20 years. Made so that it can be drunk on release, but doesn't have to be.

A bottle of Chateau Gruaud Larose 1993. A second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, prices are kept reasonable due to the fact that Robert Parker does not score the wine, allegedly as the winery dog bit him on a previous visit. 1993 was a notoriously wet year, but where the grapes were treated well, as they were here, the wines are elegant and soft rather than being diluted.
