A rich, dark and dry beer from Harviestoun, used as the base for their range of whisky cask matured bottlings and a tasty beer in it's own right. A heavy porter, named for its appearance and distillery founder Ken Brooker's previous life as an engineer at Ford, it's a great winter drink.
The opening entry in Harviestoun's much loved range of whisky cask matured beers, Ola Dubh 12 is made by resting the brewery's Old Engine Oil for about 6 months in casks that formerly held 12 year old Highland Park. Based on Harviestoun's Old Engine Oil porter, Ola Dubh 18 spends between 4 and 6 months maturing in casks that previously held Highland Park's multi-award winning 18 year old whisky. The combination of fruity flavours from the cask and savoury notes from the beer creates a rich and warming beer that's great in front of a fire or sipped after dinner.
