Diageo are the owners of more whisky distilleries in Scotland than any other company, producing a thrillingly wide range of excellent single malts. The Managers' Choice Collection is a selection of single casks, one from each of their working distilleries, chosen by the managers to best show off the character of their spirits.
The managers met at Blair Athol distillery on 17th February 2009, joined by a group of industry experts, and nosed and tasted their way through a huge number of whisky samples. They narrowed down the choices until they had selected a single cask from each distillery.
These casks were then bottled at their natural strength with no chill-filtering, keeping the whisky as close as possible to its natural state and allowing the skill of the distillers to shine through.
There was initially some controversy over the retail price of these whiskies but we are now offering them with an incredible discount of up to 40%, making them quite a steal.

Bottled in 2009 as part of the not-altogether-uncontroversial Manager's Choice series, this Strathmill is one of the more interesting bottlings in the series, as one of only a tiny handful of official bottlings from this very obscure distillery, most of whose output goes into the J&B blend.

Since the demise of the original Singleton range, official bottlings of Auchroisk are rarer than talented X-Factor wannabes - we reckon that this 1999 Managers' Choice cask strength ex-sherry 9yo might be only the third OB we've had in recent times, alongside the Flora & Fauna bottling and a Rare Malts version. At 60.6%, this will be one for the sherry monsters out there.

A 13yo single cask Glendullan bottled at full strength for the Managers' Choice series. Glendullan is another distillery we didn't see much of on this side of the pond, but malt from what is one of Diageo's larger distilleries has recently emerged in the US under the Singleton banner. Interestingly, this is marked as having come from a rejuvenated cask - kudos to Diageo for this extra snippet of clarity.

Benrinnes is another Diageo distillery of which very little is seen. Most of the malt produced at Benrinnes is used as blend fodder, so it's great to see a debut single cask bottling to sit alongside the Flora & Fauna version and 2009's acclaimed Special Release 23yo.

A remarkably dark 12yo Knockando 1996 bottled at full strength from a sherry cask (surely a first-fill) for the Managers' Choice series. It's fair to say that this will likely be somewhat more intense than the standard 12yo.

A single sherry cask of Talisker 1994 bottled at full strength as part of Diageo's Managers' Choice series. Bandages and bonfire aromas on the nose give way to a turfy, palate with some citrus also evident before a sweet finish.
