Diplomatico Rum / Rhum

Diplomatico is produced in Venezuela by Destilerias Unidas, and is consistently recognised as one of the finest South American rums.  The distillery complex at Destilerias Unidas has been producing top-quality spirits for over 45 years and is designed for versatility, with a total of seven stills (three potstills and four column stills) all producing different styles of spirit from top-grade molasses. 

Through judicious blending of these ingredients, the company has devised no less than 49 recipes for different rum products.  These rums have achieved huge success and popularity in both domestic and international markets:  the company’s Cacique rum is a million-case brand in Spain, and they also produce the majority of the spirit for Pampero rum, which has enjoyed great success as a premium rum in bars across the UK.

Now the skill of the master distiller and the craft of the master blender have created the Diplomatico range, which looks set to follow in the footsteps of its illustrious sister brands. 

Diplomatico Anejo is a fantastic smooth-sipping medium-weight golden rum, blended from a mix of continuous still and potstill rums aged for an average of four years.

Diplomatico Reserva has a higher proportion of potstill rums aged for an average of eight years.  As a result, it is noticeably richer and sweeter than the Anejo, with a delicious silky mouthfeel and exceptional balance.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is blended exclusively from potstill rums aged an average of twelve years and takes the brand’s characteristic sweet, fruity flavours to an even higher level of concentration and flavour intensity.  This is a truly exceptional sipping rum and has proved an instant smash hit with trade and retail customers since its arrival on these shores two years ago.

These three expressions (Anejo, Reserva and Reserva Exclusiva) have won 14 medals at international spirits competitions in 2007 alone:
