Very similar in character to the Dalmore 50yrs in the crystal decanter (they are from the same batch of stock), this is an earlier presentation from the 1970s and is packaged in a smart black ceramic decanter. Dalmore ages better than perhaps any other Highland distillery, and gives Macallan a run for its money in the quality stakes, but stocks are always very low.

    I drank this superb whisky with friends in 1980 in Sydney. In 2013 at 78 years of age I now have only a third of the whisky left in its black decanter. Dalmore 50 year old has an amazing effect of splendid flavours and deep intensity, which assail the senses and this is an unforgettable experience.I understand a proportion of the spirit was first drawn in the 1926, and is reputed to embody elements of Dalmore from the 19th century.
