Ancient Age is one of the oldest brands made by what is now known as the Buffalo Trace distillery. Introduced originally in 1946, the Ancient Age line quickly became the distillery's most successful whiskey. Soon the distillery buildings, signs and water towers all featured the Ancient Age logo, and the distillery itself was unofficially renamed Ancient Age distillery from the late 1960s until the early 1990s.
Nowadays, Ancient Age's prominence has been somewhat superseded by new flagship brand Buffalo Trace, but the Ancient Age brand is still going strong after over 60 years. Ancient Age is a good value, old-fashioned straight Kentucky Bourbon and remains an excellent introduction to American whiskey. The more recent Ancient Age variants Ancient Ancient Age 10-star and 10 year-old are both well worth a look for thrifty bourbon fans.
