Oh my.... this kicks like a mule!!
This is NAS dynamite. A soured bottle of WT 101 was never this bad. Old Grand Dad Bonded is also better, for a real Bourbon, and has the rye to prove it. OGD is not NAS at a minimum age of 4 years in bond. If you use ice (why?) or mix, then it doesn't matter all that much. It is bourbon, and for that 3 stars. Hopefully, Heaven Hill will soon bring out Fighting Dog at Navy strength, with an image of fighting pit bulls ripping each other. Another demographic accommodated. Glad many of you enjoy it!
We got a bottle for pheasant camp in South Dakota this year. It was a blast with the jokes about a fighting cock. This is not Blanton's quality bourbon (the gold standard IMHO) but for the money, a great buy.
People who want to toss this in the dirt because of comparing it to Wild Turkey or Elijah Craig are missing the point. It is a stand on its own merit, top shelf Bourbon, not to be compared to any other brand! If you want a WT or EC, then buy all means, go drink them and leave the Fighting Cock to those of us appreciate it for what it is, one of THE FINEST high proof Bourbon's one the market!
I used to be a heavy JD drinker, then discovered this brew. and instantly knew it was a good drop. but wasn't till i emptied a bottle and tryed JD again, with a eww Yuk. I then went straight out and got another Fightingcock and now I will only drink this. Seriously fell in love this bourbon, so much, I named my first child eeFCee =)
