Caol Ila 1979 / 30 Year Old / Old Malt Cask #5731

A silky texture, but this Caol Ila 1979 is no softy - a burst of assertive phenols on the palate fades slowly as the wood assumes control, smoothing out some of the rougher edges. Surprisingly elegant for a Caol Ila and, as always, it's as clean as a whistle. Recommended.
