This is probably the kind of whiskey you would have been served in an old saloon somewhere in the American west in the 19th century. Like rye vodka, this is not a smooth drink, but that is just the nature of rye. If you like that sort of thing, definitely buy it because it is a quality drink in its own right. If you're looking for some true old school American whiskey, rye is your choice and Pikesville should be your pick.

Fantastic rye would always be my drink of choice. Needs to be available on a consistent basis.

Bought this as I'd had Jim Beam Rye and loved it. This being cheaper and having reasonable reviews, I thought I'd give it a bash. Unfortunately, nowhere near the smoothness of JB Rye. Still has the spiciness of a Rye but quite harsh and bitter. Also doesn't take water very well.
Perhaps leave this one for cocktails.

nice, subtle with a gritty aftertaste, not smooth all the way but an interesting ride.

Just opened the first bottle purchase - my word a delight! Challenges and dare say surpasses the JM yellow label. A joy, drink whilst avail

Interesting - became better as oxidisation set in - gradually the fruits and spice became clearer more decernable - Worth a punt.......
