Product Description
A beautiful hogshead of Glengoyne 1990 bottled for The Whisky Exchange. Creamy melted vanilla ice-cream on thick crust baked apple pie. Glengoyne's lack of peat leads some to regard it as a worthy but dull whisky, but the truth is that the spirit made here is of remarkable quality, and when it gets into the right cask the results are magical.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes by Tim F
N
Frankly gorgeous. Creamy vanilla, baked apples, whiff of cinnamon & cocoa. Gets quite leafy for a while, then wonderful varnished wood aromas. The balance of fruit and wood is just about perfect.
P
A delicious mix of sweet and savoury, with mild toffee flavours and the vanilla from the nose balanced by the appley fruit and very well-defined spicy oak and spices. Impressively deep and very moreish.
F
Good length. Gentle and warming, with toffee and some hitherto unnoticed nuttiness.
C
A gem from an underrated distillery. Glengoyne's lack of peat leads some to regard it as a worthy but dull whisky, but the truth is that the spirit made here is of remarkable quality, and when it gets into the right cask the results are magical.

Customer Reviews
bit taken aback by the price but this is quite an experience. Needs a few drops of water to steady the attack, I think. The finish is of the highest order. Took me somewhere else. Just wish I could afford a bottle.
