Just got a bottle for Christmas haven't tried it yet. Normally I ONLY get Pussers Rum as my fav tipple so having seen reviews am looking forward to three fingers neat. Pussers can be up to 56 proof if you get the right bottles so 40 will always be less. Taste however is everything.

this was the rum that started it all for me growing up in scotland. OVD and coke fuelled many a crazy night out

getting hard to find, this one of the best rums on the market, and I've tried a few.
wish more stores would sell it.

Oh how funny I didn't know it was a Scottish thing! I had never seen it before moving here, but now I buy it all the time.

The finest and most palatable rum you can buy. Personally I drink it 50/50 with coke, but its each to his own. It's utterly superb, and definitely one for the connoisseur

Very enjoyable neat, packed with treacle and burnt toffee flavours, slips down easily, belying its 40% a.b.v. A definite favourite of mine, for the price.

Tried this on spec and wasn't disappointed. The label gives the clue to it's taste.
Syrupy and sweet yet with a slight bitter burnt edge which cuts nicely through the sugaryness. The smell reminds me of the Fowlers treacle my mother used in cakes.
One I would not waste in mixers or cocktails but sip neat with no ice.
With an accompanying espresso and a malted milk biscuit your elevenses are sorted.

When it came to rum i always had Lambs navy rum then OVD was recommended to me by a Scottish friend and very happy he did this is very easy to drink neat, you wouldn't think you were drinking 40% spirit. Tastes a bit like toffee or caramel with a consistency that leaves a bit clinging to the glass my friend loves it with cola or in coffee. Definitely ordering more.
