OMG,... just opening the bottle and smelling is a complete 'Christmas' stereo type in one... lucious smoke, sweet richness and a sharp undertone but with a smoothness and yet a pitency that makes it an indugence, an addiction and heaven in a glass...

A wonderful marriage of sea salt, coal dust and sweetness. In my opinion, an improvement on the standard 16YO

What a delightful whisky! First I hoped for a bigger, bolder and an overall more powerful experience and I thought the lack of suprise and complexity was a fault. But now I realize it's perfect as it is. Not all whisky needs to be an overwhelming, high scoring, once-in-a-lifetime drambut just a highly drinkable, delicious...oh well, just buy it and enjoy it!

This is one spectacular whisky. Big and bold, with the Lagavulin smoke infused with a subtle sweetness. I'd say it's more immediately likeable and approachable than the Lagavulin 16, but both, of course are excellent.

the matter of taste... I love it a lot poersonally - it has good balance. Anyway, I liked 1993 more.

Really nice. Just the right amount of smokiness and sweetness for me. I haven't felt the need to add water as I do with other Islay malts. From a purely aesthetic point of view it has a gorgeous colour too.

Decided to try this having been impressed with the 16. Nose is exceptional; smoky like the 16 but fruity and subtly sweet. The flavor is rich rounded and balanced with a perfect amount of pepper, just lovely. The finish is very long and distinctive; first a wonderful peppery edge but without being bitter like an Ardbeg10, then fading to a mellow hint of sweetness which lingers for ages, very moreish. Joint No1 Islay alongside the much peatier but still excellent Laphroiag 10.

Ignore Jinja below, this whiskey is fantastic, well worth it's double gold this year at the SF worlds. Way better than the 16!!

Tastes like two great whiskies living together unhappily. Although not that bad, it's overarching taste is that of missed potential.
