This is very dark for a ten year-old and has come from a very active Spanish oak cask. However it has not dominated Orkney's finest. The unreduced nose is delightfully mellow for its age; light, creamy Moffat toffees with a hint of old brown sherry. Water brings up wood oil, dates and baked apples, with an earthy aroma in the background. It drinks well without water; smooth and oily, with some hessian notes and a charred finish; but with water becomes sweeter, richer and smokier. Very more-ish; a splendid example.
