The weaknesses are pretty much the same as they are in 12 yo. Straight forward and not much complexity. I wonder where smoke and peat are lurking. This is quite raw and very young. However I'm determined to find a good smoky Caol Ila, I think I have to go independent bottlings. G&M cask strength 2000 (61,4 %) wasn't too promising, but I won't give up.

This might be the first time I prefer the diluted variant over a CS. Caol Ila 12 is great scotch - for the price - but in my opinion, it doesn't stand up under the close scrutiny that cask strength imposes. I'm glad to have tried it though, yet thankful I only bought 20cl.

It is indeed 58% - it's done in batches and the latest used for these 20cl bottles is 58%.

Can I ask if this is 58%? Or indeed, is it 60.1%?
Slip of the keyboard somewhere?
