A rare and exquisite rum from Appleton, with each component rum aged for at least 8 years on its own before being blended and then matured for another 22 years. It's big and fruity, with chocolate and lots of spice - a great old rum.
I find this one disappointing, as I had expected a much more complex and deep taste with 5-7 distinct notes rather than the somewhat bland, weak and "young" experience of a citrussy note with a subtle smokey background it delivers. All considered, I prefer the 21 over this, though this is rather nice from room- through hand temp (just had a glass to verify my verdict:).
I keep this as a collector's item and pour it as an example to not judge a rum by its label (or the price!).
