Gran Classico Bitter Aperitif
70cl / 28%
Interesting alternative to Campari, although slightly sweeter and less bitter, Gran Classico is made in Switzerland and can even be drunk on its own (well chilled with plenty of ice).

Tasting Notes:
Billy

Thick and quite sticky as it's poured...

Nose: Sweet and spicy but with an underlying woody bitterness. Orange peel, honeysuckle, sandalwood, hedgerows, a herbalists shop (with the windows closed in summer)

Taste: Oily and fragrant - like drinking the non-soapy flavours of posh hand soap.

Finish: Bitter but with a sweet floral edge, like glazed violets.

This is one that needs something to take the edge off - a cube of ice, some time in the freezer, a splash of soda, a topping off with prosecco... It'd also work well as the base of a cocktail, adding an apothecary's shop of herbal flavours, elegant sweetness and a bitter backbone.
