This absinthe is wicked, It actually has a too high percentage of alcohol to be enjoyable. 72-73% is the highest percentage that is really enjoyable. And yeah, what the hell, buy cyanide, it's the same...almost...

the level of Thujone (from the wormwood) is about 32-33 ppm. Maximum allowed for most absinthe is 10ppm, and most on market is around 4-6 ppm, however this one has no sugar and so is allowed to go up to 35 ppm ! Drink diluted and with caution !

has great medicinal purposes. had bad tonsilitus. my throat was so sore i did not drink water for 4 days and was bed ridden. I gargled then swallowed 1 shot(not easy to do) and felt 50% better immediately. then 1 shot every 4 hours was 100% cured less than 24 hrs

Should one buy the Hapsburg Absinthe, please guide me, as it is the only brand available in my Country. And whether it really has a taste of "Anise" which is typical of Sambuca which is also an Anise Liqueur. How different it is to Sambuca. Or Sambuca is better ? I know that Sambuca is around 40% ABV and this one is 72%.

Sambuca is nothing like absinthe.. It reaaly does have a taste of anis and has a much more grown, bitter taste. Sambuca is more like candy, too sweet for its good own. I'd recommend you to try an absinthe about 70% of alcohol at first, leave this monster for later ;)

this stuff is great! i haven't actually tried this one but i have tried a 80% one.... it has a natural chemical that acts as a hallucinogenic similar to LSD =]

To enjoy the absinthe you've got to do the business: put a shot in a glass, pick up a half spoonful of sugar, put a drop of absinthe over the top of sugar (or dip in the glass, that why you can buy special spoon), light the sugar and burn until almost caramelised then stir into the glass. Let the whole burn for a few seconds then pour in a bit of water whilst stirring all the time. enjoy, two or three shots should make a lovely night.

A few shots is enough to have a good night, this drink MUST be respected. It is great as a 'long drink' with a bit poured in a glass and topped up with water. Enjoy!
