Nose: Big blast of fruit and spice, American Red Hot Candies, touch of oak, almost nutty

 

Palate: Sweet and viscous entry with red fruits, christmas spices and oak apparent again

 

Finish: Fades a little quick, but wait around and the rewards are worth it, warming spice, cinnamon sugar, peppery oak

 

Comment: A beautiful and powerful expression of one of the best ryes in the world. TWE and Heaven Hill are a match made in, you guessed it, Heaven!

Billy

Nose: Heavy and sweet, but with the underlying almost medicinal note of rye. Raisins, caramel and vanilla cut through with menthol, sour wood and a touch of cream.

Taste: Oily and rich, with sweet caramel and big prickly spice - clove and cinnamon galore.

Finish: Anis, rich buttery cream, some woody spice and sugary wood.

Nice strong spicy kick, perfectly drinkable neat or with one ice cube or so... it's too good, don't dare to waste it in cocktails :) rye whiskeys are underrated.

Wow! Great special single barrel batch selected and bottled for TWE. If like me you love the regular version this is even better and for only a few pounds more. Has a gorgeous spicey rich buttery caramel taste which lingers in the finish with a touch of mint and liquorice. I love Rittenhouse in my Manhattans, but as other comment points out this is almost too good for cocktails...or maybe just get two bottles and keep one purely for sipping :) Highly Recommended!

Have it in a cocktail if you must but you have to sip this neat to really appreciate all the amazing sweet, spicy, and nutty flavours. And despite being 100 proof you don't need to add any drops of water as it is just so easy to drink neat. Even the wife managed to sip it neat without coughing her lungs up. All in all, I'm a very happy customer...
