If you like your whiskies smokey, really smokey, then this is it. Every sniff reminds me of my smokey clothes after a night at the campfire. Forget your subtles hints of this and that, this is a strong, punchy whisky, with a substantial finish. Altogether a very satisfying malt.

Agree with Gordon - there is a lovely charcoal thing going on. It lives up to the "bonfire on the beach" description, with more smoke than std Caol Ila 12 BUT unless Im mistaken there's a slightly acrid aftertaste which points to the addition of E150(caramel). The colour, no-age statement & absence of any label info all shout “this dram's been played with”. A good winter malt, but get a few non-chill filtered/uncoloured on your shelf before buying.

Oh my god! This is possibly the best value for money bottle of whisky I've had this year (and I've had more than I care to admit). Compares very favourably to Lagavulin for example. Has a really unusual hint of coal running through it rather than obvious peat. Truly brilliant.
