The Glenglassaugh Distillery was mothballed from 1986 until 2008 and this the first whisky to be made from spirit distilled at the distillery since it reopened. It was matured in a mixture of first and refill bourbon casks before a final 6 months finishing in first fill oloroso sherry butts.
Colour: Copper. Nose: Sweet caramel and toffee with notes of nutty sherry, milk chocolate and honey. Ripe plums, red berries and oranges. Caramelised sugar and earthy, charred oak. Palate: Sweet, rounded and creamy. Oranges, plums, cherry and walnuts, chocolate, honey-mead, sherry and soft, spiced oak. Finish: Medium with warming mulled-wine spices, sherry and caramel.

I felt in love in this characterful, young whisky. Little to add to the producer's note, except that I like the winey touch very much. Enjoy it.
