Coleburn

.
Coleburn was founded in 1897 by the blender James Robertson & Son of Dundee, with construction being completed in 1899.  Coleburn was sold to Clynelish in 1916, and thence to Scottish Malt Distiller's (SMD) and Distiller's Company Ltd (DCL, later to become part of Diageo) in partnership with John Walker & Sons Ltd and John Risk in 1925.  SMD/DCL took sole control in 1930 and the last licensee was a partnership of J & G Stewart / SMD / DCL.  The distillery was renovated in the 1960s, but was closed by DCL in 1985.  Both J & G Stewart and DCL became part of United Distillers in 1986.
