A 30 year old Port Ellen from Ian Macleod's Chieftain's range. Distilled in 1982, bottled in 2012 and released shortly after Diageo unveiled their own Port Ellen Special Release for the year. A few lucky people got to try this at The Whisky Show 2012 leading to some excellent reports.

Tasting Notes:
Tasting Notes by Billy A

Nose: Candle wax, sea shells, brine, hints of cinnamon, wet mooring ropes, swimming pool chlorine, sharp green apple, honeysuckle, Refresher chews (with sherbert in the middle), pink grapefruit juice.

Palate: Strength unnoticeable, light, fragrant wood, more floral notes, charred oak, damp firepits, wet forest floor leaves, sweet mint, light sweet liquorice.

Finish: Delicate and lingering, with floral notes, crunchy apple, hints of barrel char and liquorice cream. Light tingle of alcoholic strength.
