Seriously good rum. I LOVE this style - medicinal, tar, earth, smoke, liquorice; very complex. Not sweet rum. Bitter wood - perhaps too much for some. Usually I'd agree, but the off-note gives it character. These cask-strength Velier bottles have more than a touch of 70s Ardbeg. After Albion, Caroni is my fave rum and I have yet to try a bad one. Sadly both distilleries are dead. They compare well with the best of the lost Scottish distilleries. One for old Islay fan
