Nose: Rich, deep and fruity; sultanas and dried orange peel, with toasted, nutty notes. Wears its age lightly; still fresh and clean. With water, pear-drops show at first, as is typical in a Speyside.
Body: Oily.
Palate: The smooth initial mouth-feel is followed by an interesting freshness; it’s sweet to start, then rapidly drying. Fig rolls. Mince pies. Ginger nuts. Assam tea. Holds up well, becoming more delicate.
Finish: A clean, fresh medium length finish. Sustaining and substantial. Lingering warmth.
