Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Scotch Malt Whisky Society
The 27th cask that The Scotch Malt whisky Society have bottled from Glenlivet. The title is "Warm sunshine after heavy rain". This was aged in a refill sherry cask (they quote a hogshead, but given the number of bottles that came out of the cask, we assume it was a butt). It has notes of Christmas cake and chocolate.

From the distillery which once gave its name to the longest glen in Scotland; and to an appellation. Large raindrop; beads appear in the glass with a rich gold colouring from the refill sherry hogshead. The initial aromas are of a garden just after a heavy rainfall, giving a heavy but clean richness. Beware though, there is still a prickle on the roses, or whisky! Also in the garden air is a subtle and soft citrus scent, similar to limes. With water the weather theme continues; it is as if the sun has appeared and dried out the roses giving a fresher and lighter finish, with a sugary icing; coating (the best part of a Christmas cake). The taste is warm and sparkly (like the sun after heavy rain) giving a slightly chocolatey flavour to the long finish.
