Nose: Jelly tots, grape juice, cinnamon toast and squishy raisins. Quite closed to start but after a few minutes in the glass sweet leather and tobacco, and spiced pastry emerges.
Palate: Intense sherry cask flavours - Eccles cakes raisins, leather and cinnamon. Syrupy sweetness on top of the darker flavours as well as gummi fruit and quite a bit of alcohol heat. A drop of water takes the edge off the heat with dialling back the flavours too much.
Finish: Slightly numbness after the onslaught of the palate, with custard hints and spiced biscuits.
Comment: An intense dram with lots of dark sherry flavours, balanced by the sweetness of the spirit. One for taming with a drop of water.
On the Eye: Deep gold, burnished brass
On the Nose: Rich fruit cake, sweet spices, bubble gum, dark chocolate
On the Palate: Intense cocoa, sweet spices and hints of dried fruit
The Finish: Mildly bitter, spicy and warm. Subtle cocoa and bubble gum after-taste
