Nose: Sweet fruitcake, a hint of balsamic vinegar and some piney notes. Behind that is some vanilla cream, light woody spice and caramel.
Palate: A mix of sweet cream and sour cream, with cinnamon, clove and lots of rich fruit. Damp wood bitterness hides underneath balancing out a touch of simple syrup.
Finish: Tingly woody spice - cinnamon and clove - with a touch of dark cocoa. Some sour oak develops over time along with an icing sugar sweetness.
Comment: A more 'traditional' dram than the port editions, but with much more creaminess than I expected.
On the Eye: Deep bright brass / gold
On the Nose: Chocolate ice-cream, citrus, hay, vanilla, rum soaked dried fruits, barley sugar, butter menthol, cinnamon and Christmas cake
On the Palate: Chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, hay, grass, stewed stone fruits and roasted nuts
The Finish: Lightly charred nuts and sherry infused dried fruits
