Released in 2013 to coincide with their sponsoring of a yacht in the Clipper Round the World Race, Old Pulteney Navigator was created to reflect the distillery's rich maritime heritage. It is matured in ex American bourbon and ex Spanish Sherry casks and bottled at 46%.
Aroma: Sweet and crisp. Layers of tangy apples and dried fruit harmonise with hints of chocolate and fresh vanilla.
Taste: Full-bodied and rich in flavour. A burst of honey, cocoa and oranges eases into a long-lasting, spicy finish with a maritime surprise at the end.

I think that the completely sherry batch would be more of a malt party there. Still very interesting salty note in the finish, something like salty Swedish butter or Polish salty toffee.

Lovely, smooth it is slightly sweet very light and tasty to the palate. Overall 10 out of 10.

In a word: disappointing. Navigator's color wavers between a light chardonnay and water. As for the aroma, expect a bit of pear, chocolate, cedar wax and lemon. On the palate, Navigator is quite light, slightly sweet, and with a biting hot finish. If any one taste predominates, it's the taste of cardboard. The hot finish lingers on the back of tongue and palate, nothing langorous or enticing. No oranges or honey was detected.
