Isawa whiskies are produced at the Monde Shuzou distillery on the Japan's main island of Honshu. The whiskey (yes, spelt with an 'e' on the bottle), is rumoured to use an alternative type of malted barley, closer to pearl barley in style, which gives the whisky its unusual and intriguing flavour.

For me, the "unusual and intriguing flavour" mentioned in the above description, translates to the smell and taste of fresh rubber (like a bicycle tire's inner tube). Not to everyone's liking.
