The 2004 vintage was a great success for Dom Perignon. A moderate period of weather was complemented by a few weeks of dry heat just before harvest. This resulted in a year of good yield and grape size. This is an elegant yet dense champagne with a delightful spicy note on the mid-palate.
Nose: On the nose, aromas of almond and powdered cocoa develop gradually into white fruit with hints of dried flowers. Classic toasted notes give a rounded finish and denote a fully realized maturity.
Palate: On the palate, the wine instantly traces and astoundingly fine line between density and weightlessness, its precision is extreme, tactile, dark and chiselled. The full taste lingers with the utmost elegance on a sappy, spicy note.

Easily the best Champagne I've tried (not that I'm a massive fan of the stuff). The increased complexity and reduced fuzz was a big plus, but I still can't help but think my cash would be better spent on whisky.

A beautiful champagne, On the nose the almonds really come to life but still leaves much to be explored on the palate. A very nice vintage and a lot better than the DP 03 vintage.
