Nose: Light peat wafting from the sweet grist handles the oak-induced date and walnut cake with aplomb.
Taste: The smoke is not slow coming forward and acts as a cushion to the multi layers of crisp sugars, muscovado- and Demerera-type which follow in its train. An excellent spice radiates from the developing hickory and Dominican-style cocoa.
Finish: A bitter marmalade edge.
Balance: One of those delicately peaty guys which gangs up on you slowly. The smoke-infused layering of sugars is the star turn, though. 55.5%.
