Nose: Coffee cake and coal smoke, cream and earthy, loamy peat. Very soft, with some briny notes sneaking in around the edges, leading to a fairly savoury character.
Palate: Creamy texture, with sweet earth and well-integrated peat smoke. Sweetness fades into peat, giving a balanced dram with strong Laphroaig character. Spice builds with medicinal notes and milk chocolate, and spice rolls in – clove, anise and cinnamon – with green leafy notes and spicy smoke.
Finish: Medicinal tinged smoke, gravelly minerality, sweet dark chocolate, anise and woody spice.
Comment: A dark and rich nose compliments and lighter, zestier body, backed up by earthy peat and chocolate notes.
Nose: Initially sweet with vanilla, sultanas and raisins, and a slight peatiness.
Palate: Smooth and creamy with vanilla, peat, seaweed and sherry notes.
Finish: Long, lingering and dry, with peat smoke and oak.
