Not so much a finish as a double maturation - after eight years in Bourbon cask, this whisky was transferred to casks that previously held claret from the St Julien region of Bordeaux, home to the likes of Ducru-Beaucaillou and Leoville-Las-Cases.

Auchentoshan Distillery

Founded by Irish refugees in 1825 on the outskirts of Glasgow, Auchentoshan is one of the last active distilleries in the Lowlands. In common with other Lowland (and Irish) whiskies, Auchentoshan malt whisky is distilled three times (as opposed to most Scottish malt whisky, which is distilled twice). Producer's Tasting Notes

The colour is deep tangerine gold; the wine cask maturation is evident on the nose with rich fruity aromas - toffee apple and dark demerara sugar. The palate is loaded with concentrated stewed fruits and a hint of vanilla. The finish is warm and silky smooth.
