Nose: Old polished wood and sugar syrup up front. Beeswax and fruit reveal themselves as the whisky sits in the glass, along with s touch of wood glue and some sweet cinnamon.
Palate: Soft and waxy, with some black pepper, sappy wood, stewed apple, sharp granny smiths, floral hints, a lick of wood smoke and some hot spiciness.
Finish: Sharp oak softened by sweet apple, apple skin, dark chocolate and a sprinkling of hot cinnamon spice.
Comment: Elegant but with oomph - a cracking example of what Glen Ord can do when left to mature.

This is a perfect present for my fathers retirement as he has always favored glen ord as his most favorite malt whiskeys, but never tried one as nice as this. Not only will it be a supprise, it will bring a smile to his face and a soothing warmth inside as he takes his first sip on his 65 birthday. Derek weeden
