best whiskey ever!

This is a great whiskey. You will never get tired of it, and unlike e.g. the strong tasting Islay whiskies, you can drink glass after glass. I like it best with ice, but it's lovely neat as well. If someone told me I had to pick one for the rest of my life, I think it would be this. Posted By: Gearóid

Nice whiskey.

This is a nice smooth whiskey but for me I prefer Bushmills 10 year over this. This is a little light and I can't seem to get as much flavour and a lovely aftertaste as I get with the Bushmills 10 year. (Both were the same price). That being said, try this out, you may just find out it suits you.

I gave this to my son-in-law for Chistmas today. I think I have scored BIG points. He adores the stuff!! I'm not a fan, but I think he'd marry the bottle if he could :o) Posted By: Blueyz133

I am a small-time minister who has performed 7 weddings. A bottle of Jameson 12 has been my fee every time!! Truly one of the greatest whiskeys EVER. I liked it better than Jameson 18 or Gold. Posted By: CHB

Producer's Tasting Notes

Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve, with its robust full bodied flavour, is a warm welcoming handshake into the Reserves whiskey family. Originally known as '1780' after the year of foundation of the Jameson distillery in Dublin's Bow Street, it was renamed in 2002 to reflect its minimum 12 years of maturing in bourbon and most delectably in oloroso sherry casks.

With its infusion of pot still with sherry casks, these brush strokes of distilling artistry make it the best known and most popular aged Jameson Reserve for any discerning palate.

Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a whiskey of great character with complex flavours of toasted wood, spice and sherry that are superbly mellowed. Its exquisite taste celebrates the enduring heritage of great Jameson whiskeys which began in 1780.

Jameson
Although Bushmills will claim to be the oldest Irish whiskey, there can be little doubt that Jameson is the most famous and widespread.  Jameson today is distributed in 122 countries worldwide and accounts for the largest share of the global Irish whiskey market, which is estimated at over 22 million bottles per year.

Originally distilled at the famous Bow Street distillery in Dublin, since 1975 Jameson has been produced at Midleton, an enormous modern distillery in County Cork built by Irish Distillers to streamline the production of its many brands. This brought an end to nearly 200 years of Jameson production in Dublin, but the Old Jameson Distillery in Bow Street is now a visitor's centre. Tourists can also visit the Midleton distillery, which is home to many other brands beside Jameson, including Green Spot, Paddy, Power's, Redbreast and Tullamore Dew.
