Formerly known as '1780' in reference to the year the original Jameson distillery in Bow Street, Dublin, was founded, this has recently been relaunched as 'Special Reserve'. A smooth, spicy, sweet potstill-based blend.
Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve, with its robust full bodied flavour, is a warm welcoming handshake into the Reserves whiskey family. Originally known as '1780' after the year of foundation of the Jameson distillery in Dublin's Bow Street, it was renamed in 2002 to reflect its minimum 12 years of maturing in bourbon and most delectably in oloroso sherry casks.
With its infusion of pot still with sherry casks, these brush strokes of distilling artistry make it the best known and most popular aged Jameson Reserve for any discerning palate.
Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a whiskey of great character with complex flavours of toasted wood, spice and sherry that are superbly mellowed. Its exquisite taste celebrates the enduring heritage of great Jameson whiskeys which began in 1780.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. A bit more dry Sherry notes come through, this is standard Jameson amplified.

Had a litre bought for me for Xmas from my In-laws who are now my favourite people in the world! Totally stunning Whisky and shall be bought again and again. If you enjoy this you will also enjoy the Dalmore 12yr old as well.

Great Irish blend. Very smooth, with lots of sherry and a little cocoa and spice on the finish. Far superior to the standard Jameson. Well worth the price.

a decent cheap whiskey - only 3£ more for this than the "normal" jamesonA smooth taste and easy on the lips, not a long aftertaste. a lot of different tastes. contrary to the single malt, it has no smokey flavor because of the no smoke giving manufacturing.good at price

I'm having a Jameson 12, with a splash, as I'm typing this review... One of my very favorites... Along with American bourbon, such as Makers 46, this product is HIGH on my list of drinkable whiskys. VERY highly recommended, as it's great neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of Ginger Ale. I've tasted allot of whiskys in my day, and this is by far one of the best for the buck.

Palate (undiluted): Delightful interplay between some citrus, sweet milk chocolate and hazelnut notes. Malty too. Silken texture. No jagged edges here. Nicely refined. You can taste the evolution from the uninspiring standard, bottom shelf (no age statement) Jameson into something pleasant. 12 years of aging makes a difference. There is a spiced buzz of sherry, cherries and other red fruit that gives the flavor profile some complexity too.

My favourite tipple to date was the pub-perennial J and B. Alongside it in my fridge (I like 'em cool, to avoid using too much ice, when I use ice) is now the Jamesons 12 Year Special Reserve. I must admit there are times I can't decide which to open!(A good excuse to have a finger of each!)

This 12-y/o version of Jameson is a great Irish whiskey. You can sense your standard Jameson in there for sure, but it's more complex. There's more to it. The sherry cask influence is very easy to recognize. It's like your normal Jameson with a sherry coating, but there is also some wooden notes. Sweetness and richness too. I tried a 5cl bottle, but I'll definitely buy a whole bottle at some point :)

This is a great tasting authentic Irish whiskey. I personally love the smooth finish over the original Jameson. I have actually tried the 18 year old at the Jameson Factory in Dublin, but I prefer the 12 year old in a tumbler.

I am a small-time minister who has performed 7 weddings. A bottle of Jameson 12 has been my fee every time!! Truly one of the greatest whiskeys EVER. I liked it better than Jameson 18 or Gold.

I gave this to my son-in-law for Chistmas today. I think I have scored BIG points. He adores the stuff!! I'm not a fan, but I think he'd marry the bottle if he could :o)

This is by far and away one of the lovliest most drinkable whiskey's that i have ever tasted. Pound for pound(or any other currency for that matter) i cannot think of a nicer Whiskey(whisky).

This is a excellent whiskey. It is smooth with a loverly aftertaste. I will definitely continue drinking this, responsibly, of course

This is a nice smooth whiskey but for me I prefer Bushmills 10 year over this. This is a little light and I can't seem to get as much flavour and a lovely aftertaste as I get with the Bushmills 10 year. (Both were the same price). That being said, try this out, you may just find out it suits you.
